    Africa Sustainable Futures Awards 2025

    The Financial Times/World Bank Group Africa Sustainable Futures Awards 2025 is now open for applications. This prestigious pan-African initiative recognises and celebrates transformative, scalable, and commercially viable solutions that address some of the continent’s most pressing development challenges. Jointly hosted by the Financial Times and the World Bank Group, the awards aim to spotlight innovative projects that are not only impactful but also resilient and sustainable.

    This is the second edition of the awards, building on the success of the 2024 programme, which saw groundbreaking initiatives across clean energy, biodiversity, digital infrastructure, and more.


    About the Africa Sustainable Futures Awards 2025

    The Africa Sustainable Futures Awards 2025 highlights African-led or Africa-focused solutions that blend impact with commercial viability. These awards seek to drive attention and investment towards development projects that are actively reshaping Africa’s future through sustainable innovation.

    The initiative culminates in a high-level awards ceremony in London, during the Financial Times’ 12th Africa Summit, offering unmatched visibility and networking opportunities for participants and winners alike.


    Award Categories

    Applicants can submit entries under the following six categories:

    1. Access to Electricity & Infrastructure
    2. Agribusiness
    3. Healthcare
    4. Local Manufacturing
    5. Tourism
    6. Judges’ Award for Excellence – selected from among all the category winners

    These categories reflect the strategic pillars of development that are critical to Africa’s long-term success.


    Eligibility Criteria

    To be considered for the Africa Sustainable Futures Awards 2025, projects must meet the following requirements:

    • Have been operational from 2015 onwards
    • Meet at least one of the following thresholds:
      • Annual revenues of US$3 million or more
      • Total investments of US$5 million or more

    Key Dates

    • Application Deadline: August 15, 2025
    • Awards Ceremony: October 22, 2025, London – concluding the FT Africa Summit
