Designed to support youth-led organisations across the globe, this funding opportunity provides catalytic microgrants to drive local climate initiatives that reduce emissions, empower communities, and support green economic development.

    About GYCAF Microgrants 2025

    The GYCAF Microgrants 2025 initiative is spearheaded by the Global Youth Climate Action Fund (GYCAF), with a mission to amplify the impact of grassroots climate activism. The fund provides financial support to young leaders addressing climate-related challenges through innovative, community-based solutions.

    • Grant Amount: USD 500–1,000
    • Funding Window: 3–5 projects will be funded in this cycle
    • Application Period: 23 June – 19 July 2025
    • Project Timeline: Must be implemented within 6 months
    • Results Notification: By early August 2025

    Who Is Eligible?

    To apply for GYCAF Microgrants 2025, organisations must meet the following criteria:

    • Be youth-led: At least 80% of the leadership must be aged 18–35 (or under 30 based on regional standards).
    • Be a registered nonprofit or a community organisation with proof of existence.
    • Demonstrate a strong focus on grassroots environmental activism and community impact.
    • Have a well-prepared plan with a clear budget, defined team roles, and a feasible timeline.
    • Projects led or co-led by women or focused on gender equality will receive preferential consideration.

    What Projects Will Be Funded?

    GYCAF supports projects aligned with its mission to catalyse climate action and promote sustainability. Focus areas include:

    1. Sustainable Agriculture

    Smart farming, food security, and climate-resilient techniques that protect land and communities.

    2. Clean Energy

    Renewable energy initiatives that serve underserved and vulnerable communities.

    3. Oceans & Coasts

    Projects that protect marine ecosystems, address rising sea levels, and mitigate disaster risk.

    4. Capacity Building

    Climate education, youth training, and advocacy programmes that raise awareness and action.

    5. Green Stewardship

    Behavioural change campaigns, biodiversity conservation, and local green projects.

    6. Technology & Innovation

    Tech-driven climate solutions including apps, monitoring tools, or energy-saving inventions.


    Evaluation Criteria

    Applications for the GYCAF Microgrants 2025 will be assessed based on:

    1. Goal Alignment: How well the project supports GYCAF’s vision and environmental objectives.
    2. Relevance & Need: Addresses a genuine gap or issue within the target community.
    3. Financial Planning: Transparent and realistic budget with potential for scale or replication.
    4. Team Strength: Evidence of committed leadership and relevant experience.
    5. Execution Plan: Clear implementation strategy with mitigation measures for anticipated challenges.

    Reporting & Accountability

    Grantees are expected to report on project progress and results:

    • Mid-Term Report: Updates on fund utilisation, milestones, photos, and short videos.
    • Final Report: Summary of impact, outcomes, lessons learned, and a climate/community benefits analysis.

    Extensions may be granted upon request for justified reasons.


    Application Process

    Applicants must submit a strong proposal between 23 June and 19 July 2025, ensuring:

    • Alignment with one of the six priority areas
    • A comprehensive plan (objectives, timeline, roles)
    • Gender equity is demonstrated in leadership or beneficiaries
    • Community impact is clear and measurable
