The Call for Applications: New Product Development launched by GIZ–MOVE (Markets for Resilience – MOVE) is now open!
This call for proposals supports the creation of new products based on rice or cashew (or their by-products). Whether you’re developing pastries, beverages, cosmetics, health products, or food innovations, this opportunity is designed to help turn your concept into a commercially viable reality.
About the Call for Applications: New Product Development
The Call for Applications: New Product Development aims to support Nigerian Agri-SMEs and food processors in creating and launching products that utilize rice, cashew, or their by-products. This initiative is part of the GIZ–MOVE programme, implemented in partnership with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Selected applicants will benefit from:
- Funding for research and development
- Support in launching their new product
- Participation in a market exhibition organized by the MOVE project
- A Marketing Service Package to boost visibility and market access
This initiative promotes innovation, local value addition, and stronger market linkages for Nigeria’s agricultural processing sector.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be legally registered and operating in Nigeria
- Have at least 3 years of experience in processing rice, cashew, or related sectors
- Possess existing marketing/distribution channels (e.g., social media, supermarkets, agents)
- Be developing at least one new or significantly modified product using rice, cashew, or their by-products
- Be willing to collaborate in monitoring and evaluation, and share product recipes and insights
- Preference will be given to:
- Applicants with a reasonable product development budget
- Women-led enterprises or persons with disabilities

About the Organizers – GIZ MOVE and CARI
This initiative is supported by the Markets for Resilience – MOVE project, which unifies the efforts of ComCashew and CARI (Competitive African Rice Initiative). MOVE aims to build resilient rice and cashew value chains across West Africa, especially in Nigeria.
Through this call, MOVE is promoting local innovation, job creation, increased income for processors, and enhanced consumer access to diverse rice and cashew-based products.
