    About the Climate Reporting Gap Fellowship

    Organized by One World Media in partnership with Surge Africa, the Climate Reporting Gap Fellowship 2025 is part of an initiative to foster investigative and data-driven reporting around climate issues in Nigeria. The program will support six mid-career Nigerian journalists or filmmakers to produce impactful, original stories that highlight how climate finance and energy transition affect local communities.

    The goal is to bring the human and environmental dimensions of climate finance to the forefront by empowering local storytellers with resources, mentorship, and global exposure.


    Who Can Apply?

    To be eligible for the Climate Reporting Gap Fellowship 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Nationality: Must be a Nigerian citizen
    • Residency: Must be based in Nigeria
    • Experience: Should be mid-career with 3–5+ years of experience in journalism or filmmaking
    • Focus: Open to those with or without a background in climate finance reporting, but with a strong interest in the climate crisis and innovative storytelling

    Whether you’ve previously worked on environmental reporting or are seeking to pivot into this space with fresh ideas, this fellowship provides a platform to grow and gain visibility.


    What the Fellowship Offers

    Fellows selected for the One World Media Climate Reporting Gap Fellowship 2025 will receive:

    • 💰 Funding of £3,000–£5,000 per project
    • 🧑‍🏫 Mentorship: Personalized guidance from industry experts and senior editors
