- Covers: Studio recording, production, mixing, mastering, packaging (max 500 copies), and limited web-related expenses (up to CA$500).
- Note: Artist fees (your own) and personal studio costs are not eligible.
🎼 3. Recording – Full-Length Album
- Funding: Up to CA$10,000
- Covers: Full professional album production including guest musicians, producer fees, studio sessions, mixing/mastering, packaging (up to 1,000 copies), and design/web promotion (up to CA$1,000).
- Note: Does not support writing or composition; personal artist fees are excluded.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
To apply for the grant, you must meet the following requirements:
- Residency: Must have lived in Toronto for at least 1 year prior to applying (P.O. boxes not accepted).
- Age & Status: Minimum 18 years old and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or someone with a pending PR application.
- Professional Practice: At least 1 year of independent professional music practice with a track record of paid public performance or presentation.
- Education Restrictions: Undergraduate students are ineligible. Graduate students may apply only if their project is not related to their academic studies.
- Solo Applications Only: For band projects, only one member may submit the application on behalf of the group.
Accessibility and Equity Provisions
TAC is committed to inclusion and accessibility. Applicants with disabilities or who identify as Deaf can access:
- Application Support: Up to CA$500 for help with preparing the application.
- Project Accessibility Supplement: Up to CA$5,000 to support accessibility-related project needs (e.g., ASL interpretation, support workers).
What the Grant Does Not Cover
Certain expenses are not eligible, including:
- Artist fees for the applicant under recording categories.
- Personal studio use or equipment purchases.
- Touring, professional development, or projects already in progress.
