Open Call for NGOs to Implement Direct Actions Against Child Labour in Nigeria’s Cocoa and ASGM Sectors

Are you an NGO working in Nigeria’s cocoa or mining sector? A new Open Call for NGOs to Implement Direct Actions Against Child Labour in Nigeria’s Cocoa and ASGM Sectors has just been launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) under its ACCEL Africa Project. This presents a rare opportunity for nonprofits to secure funding and contribute directly to ending child labour in high-risk industries.

    Application Deadline

Deadline to apply: June 27, 2025

Interested organizations must act fast—applications are currently open and will close in less than a month.

    About the Call

The ILO, through its Accelerating Action for the Elimination of Child Labour in Africa (ACCEL Africa) initiative, is calling for qualified NGOs to submit proposals to:

    • Implement direct actions targeting child labour in Nigeria’s cocoa and artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sectors.
    • Address root causes of child labour in rural communities, supply chains, and informal economies.
    • Empower communities, improve livelihoods, and strengthen school enrolment and retention rates.

    Who Can Apply?

This call is open to registered NGOs with proven track records in:

    • Child labour mitigation
    • Rural community development
    • Cocoa sector transformation or
    • Artisanal mining safety and social responsibility

Your organization must have capacity to operate in affected Nigerian regions, with a clear strategy for implementation, stakeholder engagement, and impact measurement.

    What Should Proposals Include?

    Your proposal should outline:

    • A clear intervention model targeting children at risk of or already involved in child labour
    • Community mobilization and stakeholder inclusion strategies
    • Methods to monitor and evaluate success
    • A detailed budget and timeline
    • How your NGO’s approach aligns with national and international frameworks

💡 Expert Tip from Grant Database:
